С Деном Милманом я познакомился сначала по фильму Миролюбивый воин (Peaceful Warrior) и только потом, воодушевленный увиденным, и не получившим всех ответов на возникшие вопросы отправился в википедию.
Так я узнал о книге Путь мирного воина.
Общая суть что в книге, что в фильме примерно одинаковая. Но я бы рекомендовал сначала посмотреть, а потом уже почитать.
Это история автобиографична и рассказывает о самом Дэне. Только в рассказе говорится о гимнасте, а Дэн прыгал на батуте.
Герой книги – красивый, прекрасно сложенный юноша. Спортсмен. Он успешен и спокойно принимает свои победы. Только есть чувство некого неудовлетворения тем, что происходит с ним.
На бензоколонке, в одну из бессонных ночей он встречается с человеком, который переворачивает его представления о настоящей жизни. Это непонятно, невозможно, но с каждым шагом воина он приходит к осознанию настоящего счастья и предназначения в этой жизни.
Человек рассказывает о пути мирного воина.
Книга – просто кладезь мудрых изречений и зубодробительных высказываний, которые ломают представление о жизни. Но помимо этого она еще и увлекательна. Она наполнена достаточным количеством юмора. Как, например, подобное

Он отвел взгляд от тарелки: «Таких не имеется». Сказав это, он спокойно вернулся к своей трапезе.
Мне самому очень понравились высказывания об уме. О постоянном жужжании мыслей (часто тревожных, изматывающих) и конечно же о том, как от этого избавиться.
Книга обратила взор в сторону медитации, здорового питания, и попыток получить чувство обостренного восприятия действительности. Не жить в прошлом или будущем, где постоянно пребывает наш ум, а быть счастливым в настоящем.
